The Verdict in 2026: Why Vector PDF Wins
Unless a job application explicitly mandates a .doc or .docx file, PDF is the gold standard for job seekers. When properly formatted with a selectable text layer, PDF files preserve your typography, margins, and design regardless of whether the hiring manager opens your file on a Mac, Windows PC, iPhone, or Linux terminal.
Why Word Documents Cause Formatting Drift
Microsoft Word documents rely on fonts and margins installed on the viewer's machine. If a recruiter opens your document without your chosen typeface installed, Word replaces it with a generic fallback font like Times New Roman or Calibri, causing page breaks to shift and text lines to wrap unpredictably.
How TrulyFree CV Generates Clean Vector PDFs
Unlike tools that take raster screenshot images and wrap them into a pseudo-PDF (which ATS parsers cannot read), TrulyFree CV compiles direct semantic HTML into native, selectable vector PDF documents via client-side rendering. Every letter is crisp, searchable, and 100% machine-readable.
